The ingredients needed to make Goan style fish fry:
  1. Take 1 . Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbspn
  2. Get 2 . Red chilli powder - 6 tbspn

  5. Take 5 . Cinnamon stick - 1 inch

  12. Take 12 . Vineger - 200 ml
  13. Prepare 13 . Besan for frying
  14. Take 14 . Pearl spot (karimeen) or any fish
  15. Take 15 . Oil for frying

I had decorated it with a tomato rose which I carefully carved. Goan Fish Fry - Fish is marinated with spices and coated with rava (semolina) and shallow fried. Rub the fish with the paste such that it coats the whole fish. Take the rava in a plate.

Steps to make Goan style fish fry:
  1. Marinate the pearl spot (karimeen) with salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and keep it aside for sometime.
  2. Grind all the spices together  - peppercorn, cumin seeds, cinnamon, fenugreek seeds, cloves, turmeric powder, mustard seeds, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, sugar, salt and vineger and run it into a smooth paste.
  3. Add vineger to get the paste consitency.
  4. Apply this paste into the fish and marinate it for about 15 - 30 minutes.
  5. Heat some oil in a pan and keep the gas on medium flame.
  6. Sprinkle the besan on top of the fish, flip it and again sprinkle it with besan.
  7. Fry it and make sure that they are cook evenly from both the sides.
  8. Delicious crispy goan style fish fry is ready to be served. - Serve hot !

Mix little salt and turmeric powder with the rava. I went through several fish fry options & in that course tried Mangalorean fish fry in the restaurants of Mangalore & I loved the taste of this special crispy fry.
